Project & Client
Highlights:
Worked with Oracle to provide additional functionality to a
nightly batch job that provides a high volume of calculations to calculate
billing of trades to several large clients. Also
utilized C#.Net to convert a report viewing application from ASP to ASP.Net.
Developed, tested, supported and documented a solution that
allowed 450 surveyors in the field to receive replicated data from the central
office prior to each survey they conduct.
This was a Microsoft SQL Server solution that utilized several DTS
packages, and Transactional Replication.
Developed,
tested, implemented and supported the corporate website for the company’s
United States division. The technical
environment was VB.NET, C#, Microsoft Content Management Server, and SQL Server
2000. Provided training to the client,
and developed user documentation.
TEKsystems, Inc., Rolling Meadows, IL, May 2003
to June 2003 (Contract)
Designed
and developed the training portion of the AIU Online Corporate Intranet. This system allowed training managers to
schedule employees to participate in classroom training, live events, and
computer based training. Developed
specifications, worked with business partners, and coded and tested the
application. The technical environment
was VB.NET, ASP.NET, and SQL Server 2000.
Software Architects, Inc., Westchester, IL, May 1997 to
March 2003
Project & Client Highlights:
As
data conversion expert, was responsible for converting data from approximately
100 Access databases and 3 SQL Server databases into the RELOXchange
database. The existing application, installed at each client location,
contained data that was needed by the new application. Gathered requirements,
analyzed data, created requirement documents, and created and tested SQL Server
DTS packages. All necessary data translations were performed, and data was
successfully loaded into the new system.
Added
functionality to the Ohio Business Gateway application, a web-based application
that permits businesses to pay taxes and file several forms electronically via
the State of Ohio’s home page. The architecture was 3-tier (Windows DNA) and
consisted of a web server utilizing ASP, an application server utilizing
VB/COM+, and a Database server utilizing SQL Server. It also provided a
mechanism to feed the existing legacy system. Worked in all
areas of the project lifecycle--gathering requirements, writing functional and
technical specifications, coding COM and ASP components, creating database
elements, and implementing the solution. This solution aided the Ohio
Department of Commerce to obtain better filing compliance and achieve cost
savings by reducing both mailings and the number of personnel required to
process the mail.
Provided
updated technical and business specification documents for a high profile
project utilizing the .NET Compact framework that allowed delivery drivers to
track and process deliveries via a Pocket PC device. Expanded role while at
client, aided in troubleshooting of programming issues with the application,
and developed a manual for the end-users.
Worked
with users and business partners to gather requirements and write both business
and technical specifications. Designed screen layouts, determined
functionality, and developed static and functional prototypes.
Worked on both the front-end and back-end of the
application. The front-end of the application was
built in ASP/VB/COM+/XSLT, and used XML to retrieve data from the back-end
mainframe systems. Utilized Visual Basic to develop COM+
components, Visual Interdev to develop ASP pages to invoke the COM+ components,
and XSLT to present the resulting pages. Developed several stored
procedures written in COBOL to retrieve information from the DB2 database. Performed unit testing, troubleshooting, and problem resolution as
the system was nearing the release date, and was involved in support after the
release date.
Extended
the functionality of an existing Microsoft Access application to accept
additional data from Excel spreadsheets, provide additional data entry forms,
and generate reports using the new data. This project utilized VB/VBA and SQL.
Created
technical specifications and developed a web based Human Resource questionnaire
and reporting application to facilitate the gathering and sharing of organizational
information. The project utilized IIS, ASP, XML, XSLT.
Customized,
and implemented the eRoom product. This included
modifying several ASP pages, modifying several Cascading Style Sheets, and
utilizing the eRoom API to extend the functionality of
the application. Worked closely with eRoom
consultants to resolve application problems as they arose and was directly
involved with implementation into production.
Developed,
maintained, and supported a web application. Used Visual InterDev, Active
Server Pages, and SQL Server to develop reports, data entry screens, and stored
procedures to aid service-center personnel supporting deals with several large
international clients. Primarily worked on the portion of the
web application responsible for the processing of large volumes of invoices.
Also served as “Release Coordinator”, and was responsible for migrations of
each version of the application into the appropriate environments and
maintenance of the production environment.
Worked on a database conversion from IMS to DB2. Mapped IMS Segments to DB2 Columns using Platinum Pipeline,
wrote technical program specifications, coded and tested several COBOL and
COBOL APS programs.
Worked
as an “Area Lead” utilizing COBOL, DB2, MQ-Series and CICS to write
specifications and code several programs responsible for the interface between
the GUI application and the mainframe system and for maintaining data
integrity.
Played a significant role in resolving architectural issues
as they aroused and had significant roles in resolving user problems and in
system maintenance.
